Aftercare

First 24 Hours

  • Leave the wrap/bandage on as your artist directed
  • Traditional wrap: remove after 2–4 hrs
  • Wash hands before touching the tattoo
  • Some redness, warmth & a little fluid is normal

Saniderm / Second-Skin

  • Leave on 3–5 days unless it leaks or lifts
  • Fluid pooling under it is normal the first day
  • If it leaks, remove, wash, and re-apply a fresh piece
  • Peel it off slowly in a warm shower
🧼

Washing

  • Wash 2–3× a day with lukewarm water
  • Fragrance-free, gentle antibacterial soap
  • Use clean hands — no washcloths or loofahs
  • Pat dry with a clean paper towel, never rub
🧴

Moisturizing

  • Start once it feels dry/tight (usually day 2–3)
  • Thin layer of fragrance-free lotion or balm
  • 2–3× a day — less is more, don't drown it
  • Too much lotion traps bacteria & slows healing

What To Avoid

  • No picking, scratching or peeling scabs
  • No soaking — pools, lakes, baths, hot tubs (~2 wks)
  • No direct sun or tanning beds
  • No heavy sweating / gym for about a week

Normal Healing

  • Days 3–6: tight, shiny, maybe light ooze
  • Days 5–14: flaking & light scabbing — leave it be
  • Weeks 2–4: surface healed, may look cloudy/dull
  • Full heal underneath: up to 2–3 months
